Purchasing a Fishing License

Through a partnership between the NC Wildlife Resources Commission and Beech Mountain, public fishing opportunities are provided at Buckeye Reservoir, Buckeye Creek, Lake Coffey, and Pond Creek.  Anglers age 16 and older are required to have a valid North Carolina fishing license and a trout fishing license.  These can be purchased separately, or anglers can purchase a comprehensive inland fishing license which includes the trout fishing license.

To purchase a license:

  1. Visit a wildlife service agent (all forms of payment are usually accepted)
  1. Visit us online at www.ncwildlife.org (VISA or MasterCard)
  1. By phone 888-248-6834 (VISA or MasterCard)

Fishing licenses may also be purchased locally on Beech Mountain at Fred’s General Mercantile, which is a Wildlife Service Agent, or in Banner Elk at Food Lion.

Note – Youth under the age of 16 are exempt from the requirement of a fishing license and trout privilege license.  Anglers purchasing licenses online or by telephone will be eligible to exercise the privileges of the license immediately after completing the transaction or telephone call.
